Founded in the 17th century, the cemetery is now the largest and oldest cemetery in Bordeaux. Rests here, among others politician Charles-François Delacroix (1741-1805), general Elie Papin (1760-1825), and a symbolic tombstone commemorates the famous painter Francisco Goya.
