The church was built in 1699-1702 as a castle chapel. It is the only part of the former castle that has been completely preserved after the fire in 1757 that destroyed the entire property. It is also the only part of the present Gråsten Palace that is open to the public. In the decorative interior there is a monumental main altar and about 80 paintings.
