The Podkarkonoskie Museum in Trutnów is located in the local castle. His exhibitions focus primarily on the history of the city and its immediate surroundings. The museum is currently being reorganized. An exhibition is devoted to the history of the city from prehistory to the 20th century. Its opening is planned for 2018. An exhibition showing life in castles, towns and villages of the Karkonosze region is open until 2020.
The subject of museum exhibitions focuses on the everyday and social life of Trutnov and surrounding towns. Currently they are approximated mainly by means of temporary exhibitions. The most important of the currently operating exhibitions is dedicated to the inhabitants of the region. In the castle rooms, the interiors of burgher houses, peasant huts, weavers' houses as well as palaces and castles from various periods of time were recreated. Souvenirs related to the battle of Trutnov in 1866 are also presented.
