Polabian Ethnographic Museum
Local name: Polabské národopisné muzeum
The open-air museum in Prerov nad Labem shows the appearance of the village from the Połabska Lowland from the 18th to the early 20th century. There are fully equipped cottages, granaries, barns and other farm buildings, as well as a fruit drying room, decorative gates, beehives and roadside shrines.
The open-air museum in Prerov was the first open-air museum in the Czech Republic. It was opened in 1967. Houses belonging to representatives of various rural states were gathered here. The most interesting are the flat and the office of the head of the commune and the farm belonging to the forest management. In the past they were part of the castle property from a nearby town. After World War II, they deteriorated and only when transferred to the open-air museum saved them from destruction.
All buildings in the museum have been renovated. The houses have exhibitions showing furniture, appliances and everyday objects. The exhibitions are changed according to the rhythm of the seasons as well as holidays and other celebrations.
