The Rudolfinum in Prague is a neo-Renaissance building belonging to the Czech Philharmonic, which has its headquarters here. It houses the Dvořák concert hall, an exhibition hall and smaller concert halls. The most important concerts in the Czech Republic take place in the Dvořák hall, incl. Prague Spring concert series.
Rudolfinum was built between 1876 and 1881, the concert hall was created three years later. The building was created as a multi-functional cultural facility. In Czechoslovakia, the building was called the House of Artists. In the interwar period, the building was modified many times, it even served as a parliament.
After the end of World War II, the Rudolfinum was the seat of the Music Department of the Academy of Fine Arts, and in later years the seat of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. The last reconstruction of the building took place in the 20th century. Today, there are the Czech Philharmonic and the Rudolfinum Gallery.
