The monument is the work of the famous Czech sculptor Josef Maratka and was dedicated on October 28, 1932 on the Independence Day of the modern Czechoslovak state. The 16-meter obelisk was built to thank the victims of World War I and the soldiers of the Czechoslovak legions.
