East Bohemian Museum

Local name: Východočeské muzeum

The East Bohemian Museum in Pardubice is located in the rooms of the local castle. It presents several exhibitions showing the history, nature and culture of the region. You can see exhibitions about the animals living in the Elbe, the history of Pardubice and partially preserved castle rooms, such as polychrome decorated knights' halls and the castle chapel.

The museum's collections are very diverse and cover various issues related to the Pardubice region. The most important of the exhibitions is devoted to the history of the city and the surrounding area. You can see here documents, engravings, graphics, old postcards, paintings from churches, reconstructions of craft factories and houses of burghers and peasants. A valuable exhibit shown in the museum is made of rock crystal and bronze in 2004-2006 by the local artist Jaromír Rybák.

When visiting the museum, you can also see the castle interiors. Religious sculptures are presented in the Gothic chapel, while fragments of the polychrome with hunting and allegorical scenes and old furniture are displayed in the knight's halls. The castle tower, which is a viewpoint of the city, is also open.
