The new city hall in Ostrava is a modernist building, over which the 85 meter clock tower towers. At its top there is a viewing terrace from which you can admire the panorama of Ostrava, Beskids and Jeseníky.
The town hall was built in 1930. It is a three-winged building with a projection projected in front of the building. The wings have many neoclassical features, and the break is completely modernist, with a raw, stone portico obscuring the entrance. Above it rises a tower with a clock with a diameter of 3 meters. It is the highest town hall tower in the Czech Republic, and until the construction of the Bolt observation tower at the Blast Furnace in Ostrava it was also the highest observation platform in the country.
The tower can be reached by a fast elevator. Guides on the platform are on duty who talk about Ostrava and help orient themselves in the landscapes viewed.
