The Neptune Fountain in Liberec dates from 1825. On the pedestal there is a stone sculpture of the god of the sea with a trident in hand. He is standing on a fish from which water flows out.
The fountain was on the market in Liberec until 1929. Then it was moved to a smaller square, where it was destroyed. She was also the subject of vandal attacks. In 2010, it was thoroughly renovated and moved back to the square. The original sculpture was placed in a museum, and now the fountain is decorated with a replica. It is the only year-round fountain in the city. By installing heating spirals, it can function even at minus temperatures.
