The Regional Museum has been operating in the city of Klatovy since 1882. It focuses on presenting the history of the city from the Renaissance to modern times and local folk art. In the corridor there is an exhibition for children showing old toys.
The beginnings of the museum are associated with the collection of Franz Jung, who collected objects related to the history of his hometown. Later it was expanded to include rich ethnographic collections. You can see, among others, folk handicrafts, folk art works, mainly painting and sculpture as well as home furnishings.
Museum exhibitions lead visitors through the history of the city. You can look at urban documents, see the tools used by craftsmen, and familiarize yourself with the furnishings of homes. A library and archive operate at the museum. Meetings are devoted to the history and culture of the region, as well as workshops for children and youth.
