Žižkovy Park
Local name: Žižkovy sady
Žižkovy Sady is a city park limited on one side by the walls of the old town. It was founded in the early 20th century. It is a place of rest for city residents. It has the form of a French-style garden with a large fountain in the middle of the park. At the western entrance there is a monumental monument to Jan Žižka.
The park was founded in the years 1905–1977. It was named after Jan Žižka, one of the leaders of the Hussite movement in the Czech Republic. In 1971 a monument was built in his honor at the western entrance to the park.
The designer of Žižkovych Sadów Franciszek Thomayer created a park in the French style. A fountain surrounded by geometric flower beds and lawns remains its central part to this day.
