The collection of the Archaeological Museum in Zadar consists of over 100,000 objects from various historical periods, from the Paleolithic to the end of the 11th century. You can see here, among others ceramics, weapons and everyday objects that were imported by Croatian sailors from expeditions to Italy and Greece.
Noteworthy are the artifacts found in today's Zadar, which show its development and history since the earliest times. The museum collection also includes beautiful glass vessels from the period from the first to the third century.
The museum was opened in the 1830s, it is one of the oldest institutions of this type throughout Europe. The exhibition was divided into several sections, including prehistoric, Roman, medieval, underwater archeology, as well as educational and library.
