Croatian Maritine Museum, or the Croatian Maritime Museum. Its seat is the seventeenth-century fortress Gripe. The museum's permanent exhibition includes hundreds of models of ships and ships - sailboats, rowing boats, steamers, motor boats. They are accompanied by antique anchors, antique diving equipment and a valuable collection of amphorae and other pottery extracted from the seabed.
The decoration of the collection devoted to undersea archeology is entirely preserved pitos - a traditional vessel from Greek times used for storing loose food products. The barrel-shaped container is impressive - it is 1.6 m high and 1.5 m in its widest point.
In the museum courtyard there are several preserved vessels, including the small passenger steamer "Bakar", built in 1931 in Great Britain. A unique exhibit is the fishing boat "Streljko", built in 1938, which was armed and adapted for patrol fishing. This is the only surviving battle unit from World War II.
