Our Lady of Lourdes, or the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, which was built on the site of an older, seventeenth-century church. An impressive edifice of red and white brick, with a neo-Gothic facade, was built in 1904-1921. This is the first Croatian votive sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, which is also known as the Croatian Lourdes.
The temple consists of two levels - the lower one was completed in 1908, the upper one in 1921. The original design provided for the construction of a giant belfry, which ultimately was not created due to the lack of adequate funds. A characteristic element of the facade design is the figure of the Virgin of Lourdes, made by Giuseppe Marietti. The interior is decorated with frescoes by Romulo Venucci from Rijeka.
The temple was founded on the initiative of father Nikola Škrivanić (1855-1932), a member of the Croatian Capuchin province, founder and publisher of the magazine "Our Lady of Lourdes" (1908-1918). Funds were obtained from donations from the faithful.
