Cliffs and caves Kamenjak
Local name: Klifovi i pećine Kamenjak
Cape Kamenjak is the most remote point of Istria, as well as a real wonder of nature. This place has been protected as part of the landscape park since 1996. The cape is 3400 meters long and 500 to 1600 meters wide. The shoreline creating fanciful and very winding "esy-flores" means that there are plenty of coves here, as well as many kilometers of beaches. A dozen uninhabited islands protrude from the sea. On one of them in 1883 a 35-meter lighthouse was built. Nowadays there are two four-bed apartments for rent.
However, the landscape park not only protects the views. The jagged shoreline provides a unique microclimate. Thanks to this, over 600 different species of plants (including beautiful orchids) can be found on the cape, as well as almost 50 types of butterflies. There are hiking and biking trails as well as numerous walking paths. Kamenjak is also a real paradise for divers and sailors. The crystal clear water allows you to observe the underwater world even without specialized equipment.
