Source of the Cetina river

Local name: Izvor rijeke Cetine

The source of Croatian Cetina, sometimes called the Blue Eye is an unusual place. The river flows out of a cave about 115 meters deep and about 15 meters in diameter. The water is so crystal clear that it is the basic source of drinking water in the area. Since 1972, the source has been a protected hydrological monument.

Clean, cold water flowing from the blue "lake" attracts tourists and is an excellent living environment for many species of plants and animals. They live here, among others endemic Cetinian trout. Due to the considerable depth, Cetina Source is often visited by thrill-seeking divers.

The river itself is relatively short, its length is only 105 km. It has two sources - the main one in Cetina (Izvor Cetina) and the less impressive Izvor Vukovac. Cetina has a very diverse character. Initially lazy, in the middle run as a result of a 385 m drop, he becomes very rushing and smart to slow down again at the end.
