Vidova Gora

Local name: Vidova Gora

Vidova Gora on the island of Brač is the highest point of all Croatian islands. Its height is 778 meters above sea level. You can reach the summit on foot by leaving the city of Bol, a narrow asphalt road leading to it by car or motorbike also leads to it. There is a wonderful view of the entire town of Bol, Zlatni Rat beach and the neighboring island of Hvar.

When choosing the option of walking, it is worth stocking decent shoes - the road is narrow and very rocky, and although relatively straight, it can also be very tiring. Low trees and shrubs, grasses and small flowers grow along the path. You can also often find colorful lizards here.

Vidova Góra is often mistakenly translated as "scenic mountain". Meanwhile, this name was probably derived from the name of one of the most popular Slavic deities - Świętowita. On the west side of the summit, the remains of the chapel from the 13th century have survived to this day, which used to be dedicated to Saint Vid.
