It is the largest rock debris on the slopes of Vitosha Mountain. Gołoborze begins at an altitude of 1,800 m above sea level and descends along the valley of the Władajska Reka River nearly 400 m downstream. It is reminiscent of a stone river that extends 2.2 km long and 150 m wide. On both sides there are smaller gravel areas.
The name of the rubble means "Golden Bridges". It refers to the yellow color of the lichens covering the larger stones, which in the sun's rays take on a golden hue. According to another version, however, it is related to the discovery of golden sand here years ago.
You can get to the hillside by one of several routes. The road from Knyazhevo takes about 2.5 hours, and the route along the Vladajska Reka valley takes about 1.5 hours. The routes are well marked and rather easy, but consist of a fairly large number of steps and footbridges.
