The picturesque gorge of the Trigrad River is located in the western part of the Rhodope Mountains. Its total length is 7 km, but the ravine proper covers 2-3 km. It is the third longest gorge in Bulgaria. Since 1963, it has been an area under legal protection.
The bottom of the canyon is rocky and rather narrow, it is 100 to 300 m wide. The steep slopes on the west side are 180 m high, and on the east side they are 350 m high. The river flowing through the gorge flows into a cave called the Devil's Throat and forms the highest underground waterfall in the country. Then, 530 m further, it rises to the surface as a powerful karst spring.
On the eastern slope there is another cave, Haramijszka asska. While hiking in the gorge, you can also visit the "Trigrad Rocks" refuge.
