The deep-sea cave was formed as a result of the collapsing layers of the earth. It is one kilometer long, of which a 350-meter-long section has been made available to visitors. The main hall is 110 meters long, 40 meters wide and 35 meters high. It is the second largest cave hall in Bulgaria. It is home to the highest underground waterfall in the Balkan Peninsula.
Currently, the cave is entered through an artificially created gallery with a length of 150 m. The old entrance serves as an exit. The name of the cave comes from its shape, resembling a devil's head. The cave was also known among the local population as Klokotnik, referring to the sound of water that can be heard at the entrance to the cave.
The cave is located near the border with Greece. According to one of the legends from the Thracian period, it was here that Orpheus descended to Hades in search of his beloved Eurydice.
