Rochefort Castle

Local name: Château Rochefort

The history of this medieval castle dates back to the 12th century. It was built on the slope of a rocky hill, from which it overlooks the area. Currently, its ruins can be visited both individually and in groups with a guide. Visitors will be welcomed by employees in period costumes and interactive performances.

The adventure paths along which Emelyne the Witch guides them are an attraction for children. On the tour route there are puzzles to solve and tasks to be performed. You can also go down to the castle dungeons. The tour lasts from one to two hours depending on the theme selected.

During its history, the castle was besieged and attacked several times. In the 18th century it was transformed from a massive fortress into a representative and elegant palace. Beginning in the nineteenth century, the building began to fall into ruin more and more. Its successive fragments were systematically demolished in order to obtain new building material.
