The Hasselt Fashion Museum offers an overview of dresses and accessories from 1745 to the present day. The museum has a collection of nearly 20 thousand. items - clothing, bags, footwear, underwear and accessories (hats, scarves, ties, belts and more).
The core of the Modemuseum collection are the private collections of the Romanian scenographer and costume designer Andrei Ivaneanu (1936-1989). The collection is constantly expanded, mainly based on donations. At the permanent exhibition you can see a selection of about 300 representative exhibits, arranged in chronological order. In addition, numerous temporary exhibitions are organized.
The museum is housed in a complex of 17th-century buildings of the former monastery and the Grauwzusters hospital. The building underwent a thorough renovation in 1993-1995, gained modern equipment, and a glass pavilion was erected in the former courtyard, designed by Vittorio Simoni, which joined the two wings of the building.
