The historic church was built at the beginning of the 18th century. Its architecture features Baroque and neoclassical elements. Inside there are numerous works of art, mainly paintings from the nineteenth century. You can also see several older paintings from the seventeenth century, including works by Jan Cossiers.
When visiting the temple, it is worth paying attention to the eighteenth-century pulpit, which features an epitaph for Count Willem Charles Ghislain van Merode and an altar of white marble from the Heylisse Abbey. There are also organs from 1680, considered the oldest of its kind in Brussels.
Initially, the church belonged to the minima monastery, an order modeled on Franciscans. The last monastery buildings were demolished in 1920. Only the church has survived, which has been rebuilt several times since its creation.
