Rue Neuve is a pedestrian street located in the city center between Place de la Monnaie and Place Charles Rogier. Immediately after Meir in Antwerp, it is the second shopping street in Belgium in terms of popularity and number of customers.
At the end of the nineteenth century, it was considered a center of commercial activity, and in the early twentieth century it was famous for its luxury stores. In 1975 the street was closed to car traffic.
