The facility inaugurated its activity in 1935 as Alberteum (after the name of King Albert I of Belgium), erected especially for the occasion of the World Fair taking place in Brussels. In addition to the planetarium, there are conference and exhibition rooms, a cinema, broadcasting and recording studios, as well as a restaurant.
