The 7-meter monument presents David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690), a Flemish artist from the famous family of Antwerp painters. Teniers' wife, Anna, was the daughter of Jan Brueghel the Elder and granddaughter of Pieter Bruegel the Elder. The bronze statue, erected in 1866, is the work of the Belgian painter and sculptor Joseph Ducaju (1823-1891).
