Beguinage Antwerp

The complex erected in 1544 was the home of beginka and begard - a secular religious congregation established in the 12th century to help the poorest. The preserved set of buildings was created after leaving the older Beguinage, operating since 1245. After the death of the last begard in 1986, the buildings of the congregation perform residential functions.
