The current building of the Church of St. Peter comes from the first half of the 18th century. The first temple that burned down was probably one of the oldest in Vienna and was built on the site of the former Roman camp, founded by the emperor Charlemagne.
The church was the first dome building in Vienna. Its interior is richly decorated, and the main altar, numerous sculptures and stained glass windows deserve special attention.
At present, priests from Opus Dei run pastoral care in St. Peter's Church. Every day there are organ concerts. It is also open to visitors.
