Linzer Gasse street & Place

Local name: Linzer Gasse & Platzl

Linzer Gasse is a small, atmospheric street that originates in the square called Platzl, which means "small square". The area was traditionally inhabited by traders and craftsmen, and their workshops operated at Linzer Gasse. Currently there are numerous cafes and shops offering local products. In the summer, a city festival, known as Linzergassenfest, is organized here, during which concerts and other events take place.

The curiosity at house number 7 is one of the curiosities, where Engel's pharmacy is located, where German poet Georg Trakl worked for some time. Paracelsus, a doctor and naturalist, considered the father of modern medicine, lived at Platzl 3.

The history of the street and the adjacent square dates back to the Middle Ages. Since then, the local buildings have been destroyed several times in fires. The last major fire took place in 1818.
