Lekursi Castle rises above Saranda, on a hill. Fragments of walls and two bastions have survived from the Ottoman fortress. Currently, the castle is rented by a private owner who runs a restaurant with a viewing terrace. From the ruins you can enjoy great views.
The castle was built in the 16th century at the behest of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. It is a square fortress with bastions in the corners. It's pretty badly damaged. Only in one room are fragments of frescoes from the 17th century. For several years, the castle has been rented by a private entrepreneur. Under the contract, he renovated and secured the walls and built a restaurant serving Albanian delicacies. The castle is a great viewpoint. From here you can see Saranda, the coast of the Ionian Sea and the Greek island of Corfu.
