The Finiq Delvin Archaeological Park is located in Finiq, in southwestern Albania. The city is widely known as the ancient center of Chaon civilization. Located 8 km from the Ionian Sea, the town was the capital of Epirus and the richest city in the region until the Roman conquest. Excavations at this place began in 1924, and the first explorers were Italian researchers.
The archaeological site is located on a hill overlooking Finiq, near the city of Saranda. In Byzantine times, Finiq became a bishopric and was the most powerful center in the area until it left it in the 6th century. Archaeological work that lasted for many years led to the documenting of finds such as Hellenistic houses, Roman houses, graves and exhibits mainly from the 4th century BC to the 4th century AD
In Finiq, tourists can visit the remains of the Epirus cultural and commercial center. Authentic souvenirs present the then power and strength of the settlement. The Archaeological Park in Finiq was opened under the Act of April 2003, which granted special protection to the archaeological parks of Albania.
