Port Durres is the largest seaport in Albania. Its history dates back to ancient times. Currently, it is both a commercial and passenger port.
The port of Durres has been operating almost continuously since the 4th century BC. Since 2011, it has undergone a thorough reconstruction. Quays and terminals as well as devices for transhipping ships are being repaired. The port is located at a length of almost 750 meters, not far from West Pier. A fishing port is also nearby. It mainly serves passenger connections with Italy (including ports in Bari, Ancona or Trieste) as well as the Balkan countries and Greece.
