The extensive sandy beach is one of the largest and best-equipped beaches in Albania. It is about 10.5 km long and is 100 to 200 m wide. It is a perfect place for families with children as well as people who like active recreation and water sports.
The beach is guarded by lifeguards. There are toilets, showers and changing cabins available. In the season, there are several rentals of sun loungers, umbrellas and water equipment, such as boats, pedalos and canoes. There are also beach bars for snacks and drinks, and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. There are several dozen hotels along the beach, from which you can go down directly to the seashore.
The beach became a tourist center in the 1920s when the first private villas and hotels were built next to it. It began to gain international popularity in the 1940s, but its real development took place at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries.
