Evangelische Augsburger Kirche in Pszczyna

Lokaler Name: Kościół Ewangelicko-Augsburski w Pszczynie

It is the parish church of the Evangelical-Augsburg parish in Pszczyna. When visiting the church, it is worth paying attention to the painting "Ascension of Jesus" placed in the altar - a gift from Princess Augustine Anhalt-Koethen. Interesting is also the impressive portal on the facade of the temple - typical of Evangelical churches. The building is located on Bogedaina Street, right next to the Pszczyna market square.

The temple was erected in the mid-18th century thanks to the efforts of the Promnitz family. Soon after, however, the church burned down in a great fire in the city, fortunately it was quickly rebuilt. It burnt down again in 1905. Today's temple was built as a result of the reconstruction after the second fire.

From the moment of joining Pszczyna to Poland in 1922, the parish belonged to the Evangelical Church of the Union in Polish Upper Silesia. At that time, it was the oldest, next to the parish in Tarnowskie Góry. After World War II, the congregation entered the structures of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church.
