The museum is located in a southern bunker built on Tane Hedavej. There are 3 permanent exhibitions in it. The first presents the history of the Atlantic Wall, which included a bunker. The second is dedicated to life on the west coast of Denmark, and the third is the largest amber collection in the country. There are also thematic temporary exhibitions.
The bunker was built in 1944 as part of the defensive fortifications around the city of Esbjerg. It was never finished. According to the design, it could accommodate 2 turrets, each of which was to be equipped with 2 sea guns SK C / 34 38 cm. They have been reconstructed and during the tour you can see a visualization of what the bunker would look like if it had been completed and used actively during military operations.
