Puerto Viejo de La Rochelle

The Old Port of La Rochelle, located in the historic center of the city, is the oldest port in La Rochelle. It consists of three pools with a total of 18 pontoons and 320 berths. They are equipped with basic amenities such as access to water, electricity and lifting equipment. Nearby there are restaurants, shops and a tourist office offering guided tours of the city and the surrounding area.

The first pool can accommodate 115 boats with a maximum length of 12 m. The second pool was built in the 19th century and has 90 berths, and the third is the former fishing boat pool, now intended for large boats and yachts up to 90 m in length and up to 16 m.

As a curiosity, it is worth mentioning that the history of the port dates back to the 11th century. Its importance increased during the Hundred Years' War in the 14th and 15th centuries, and in the 17th and 18th centuries, the port of la Rochelle handled half of the maritime traffic between France and its American colonies.
