Szipka is a village at the foot of Stara Planina, in the vicinity of the pass of the same name. It is a place closely related to the history of Bulgaria and a series of battles fought in the 19th century during the Russo-Turkish war.

Although the settlement in this place already existed in antiquity, it flourished only during the Turkish occupation. The town was then fortified so that it could protect the nearby strategic Shipka Pass.

The most important event in the history of the town and the entire area was a series of battles fought in the area of the pass in the years 1877-1878. It is with these events that the most important attractions of Szipa are connected.

In the village itself, you can see the magnificent Russian-style Church-Memorial of the Nativity. It commemorates the Russian, Ukrainian and Bulgarian soldiers who died in the fighting.

At the Szipka Pass, there is the Freedom Monument, and in the vicinity of the peak of the same name, the Monument to Buzludzha and the Russian Monument. They are popular destinations for hiking from Szipki and the mountain pass. In addition, the area is rich in scenic places to which you can go along hiking trails and paths.
