Wingham Wildlife Park
Wingham Wildlife Park is a wildlife park located near Wingham. More than 200 species of animals live here, including large cats, primates, a wide variety of birds, reptiles and smaller mammals. There are, among others Tropical House, Reptile House, penguin pool, wolf enclosure and Mandryla Island. There is also an exhibition with 30 life-size figures of dinosaurs and information on local archaeological discoveries.
It is the only zoo in Great Britain and just one of two in Europe where you can see varanus olivaceus dragons, reaching 1.8 meters in length. It is also one of only three zoos in the world where the leopard moth lives.
The park opened in 1986 as Wingham Bird Park. Initially, there was only a small collection of aviary birds and waterfowl. In the following years, other animals appeared, including numerous mammals, so in 1996 it was decided to change the name to a more appropriate one - Wingham Wildlife Park.
