Dark Peak
Dark Peak is the northern, higher and wilder part of the area known as the Peak District. It is a largely uninhabited plateau covered with moors, peat bogs and marshes. A significant part of Dark Peak belongs to the protected area due to its scientific importance, the so-called SSSI. There are trails here, on which you can go on foot or by bike.
In Dark Peak, especially in its more remote areas, you can find wrecked planes. Due to bad weather conditions, accidents have occurred quite frequently over the past decades, and the broken debris has usually remained intact. As a result, legends were born about ghostplanes to be seen over the moors. Also, those who took any part from the wreckage are to be haunted by ghosts. The story was presented in an episode of the British paranormal show "Strange but True".
