Engelberg Monastery

Local name: Kloster Engelberg

The Benedictine monastery towers over the village of Engelberg and is dedicated to Our Lady of the Angels. It was founded in 1120 and gained directness to the Holy See in 1124. 30 monks still live and work in the monastery. Both the monastery and the collegiate church accompanying us significantly contributed to the development of the town and the increase of its tourist potential.
