High Chaparral is a theme park, the creator of which - Bengt Erlandson (Big Bengt) was inspired by, among others The wild west. Here you can see scenes with stuntmen, a train with a steam engine and a large collection of old cars and objects from the Cold War period.
The park is divided into several different zones, one of them refers to the Mexican culture, in another one you can see buildings characteristic of towns in the Wild West, the next one is dedicated to the Indians.
The park was opened in 1966. Its name comes from the American television series from the late 1960s, entitled The High Chaparral. Bengt Erlandson became interested in this subject during his stay in the United States, he traveled the country for four months, visiting historical places, incl. historic military fortresses.
