The most important monastery in the city was founded by the order of Queen Isabella I of the Catholic in the fifteenth century. Inside, according to the assumption, was to be the royal mausoleum, and the temple itself to commemorate the famous battle of Toro from 1476. This is one of the most valuable examples of the Gothic Elizabethan style and the most important building erected by Catholic monarchs.
