Zocodover Square is the focal point of the city. It is a frequent walking place popular among tourists. Celebrations, events and public gatherings are organized there. Every Tuesday there is a well-stocked market.
Originally, there was an animal market in this place. Later it developed into the most important market in the area, where you could buy almost anything. The square was rebuilt for representative purposes by Juan de Herrera in the 16th century, after which it was expanded twice. The next reconstruction and arrangement of the surface took place in the nineteenth century under the direction of Santiago Ruiza.
