The nature reserve covers the area surrounding the Roman Dam of Cornvalo. Its representative feature is the presence of holm oaks and cork oaks. The area is inhabited by over 250 vertebrates, including two endangered species: the black stork and the endemic fish living in the Aljucén river - jarabugo.
