Tree of Gernika

The famous oak is a symbol of Basque freedom. It grows in front of the Casa de Juntas. This is the fourth tree growing in this place. The first was the Father, seated in the fourteenth century, the next old man, replacing him from the mid-eighteenth to the mid-nineteenth century, and the next son. The current tree was raised from the seeds of the Son and planted in 2004.
