The city of Fornalutx was established in the center of Valle de los Naranjos - the Valley of Orange Trees, which is filled with orange, lemon and olive groves. The lush growth of vegetation is the result of a specific microclimate and irrigation system built during the Arab rule. Above the valley is Puig Mayor (1,445 m), the island's highest peak.
