Mercado de la Ribera is the largest and most popular market in the Biscay area located in a closed space of 10,000 square meters. The market was entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest European market hall.
A large number of buyers at over 60 stands offer a variety of groceries. Particularly noteworthy are fresh, top-quality fish, seafood, meat and cheese. At Mercado de la Ribera you can also eat a ready meal in one of the several bars.
It is also worth visiting the observation deck from which you can admire the panorama of the area along with the river.
The building itself is located on the river bank and structurally refers to the shape of the boat. The interior of the building is kept in a classic style, with large windows and decorative floral elements.
