Puerta de San Vincente is the main gate to Poble Espanyol on the Montjuïc hill in Barcelona. It is a replica of one of the nine gates of the 11th-century walls surrounding the city of Avila. The gate was built in the Romanesque style. On its two sides are two tall towers connected by an arch.
The replica, like other objects located in the town, was created in the 1820s in connection with the World Exhibition organized in 1929. Gates of the city walls (San Vincente and Alcázar), which were the prototype were commissioned by Bishop Pelayo. 2000 people worked for 9 years on the construction of the walls of the city of Avila.
The area of Poble Espanyol is almost 50,000 m², there are 117 buildings here, representing Spanish architectural styles, characteristic of different eras and regions.
