The garden was founded by Giovanni Scaramanga di Hiccolo Cavaliere when in the mid In the 19th century, he bought a property on the edge of Sežana and built the Mirasasso villa. For years he imported plants from different parts of the world. In 1948 the garden was nationalized. Currently, it is a popular recreational area, a place for wedding receptions and flower fairs.
