The fortified defensive church in Viscri is a Lutheran church built by an ethnic German community at a time when the area belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary. Together with a group of other defensive churches located in Transylvania, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The church was built in the thirteenth century on the site of an older Romanesque chapel from the twelfth century. It has two towers, two towers and is surrounded by a huge wall, 7 m high and additionally protected by a fortified gate tower.
